This week’s topic at Illustration Friday is “Hurry!” and I immediately thought of a host of sparrows we saw at the marsh in Jamestown. They flitted above with such urgency while in the mud hundreds of crabs could easily be mistaken for rocks. The image in my mind evolved from the photograph of the real event to this fanciful coach. I’m not sure who she is or where she is going but she is certainly in a hurry.

I love it how you produced such a unique painting with only 3 colors!

Thank you! I’ve got a lot to learn about color so I’m trying to restrict myself.

This is beautiful! Very dreamy! Wish I could try sailing off through the sky on a bird driven tree sleigh.

Thank you! Your illustration is so funny – well done!
I felt like that every time . . . well except for the running and in high heels part.

The colors are applied so softly and gently, like a wonderful dream! Wouldn’t it be wonderful to soar with sparrows?

Thank you. Yes, it would be wonderful to flit so carelessly about as they do.

What a beautiful magical illustration! It looks as if the tree is running. It’s hurry all along.

Thank you! Yes it is funny how the trunk, such a heavy thing, looks like it could be in motion. It too was on the bank in Jamestown and it looked as if it had just crawled out of the water.
