After flipping through a book of Leonardo da Vinci’s sketches last night I was inspired by how many botanical studies he accomplished.  These are some watercolor studies of arugula as well as a scan of the plant itself.  This was the first year we’ve grown it in the garden and it was a huge success.  The kids weren’t crazy about it raw (as they are with spinach) but they loved it drizzled with oil and spruced up with pansies.

Here’s a fun link about arugula flowers.
