Butterfly

"Paper Butterfly"This morning the kids woke up and were crazy excited to see their paper had dried over night.  I dished out the crayons and then had some space to prep breakfast.  Here’s a butterfly that I drew with colored pencil and ink over one of this morning’s kid sketches and then cut out.  You don’t need to be able to draw in order to make something like this.  To be quick I just used a picture that I had printed, layered a piece of carbon paper beneath it and then the paper under that.  Tracing the picture leaves the marks of carbon behind so that all that’s left to do is fill in the spaces like a coloring book.

Here’s a link to the type of carbon transfer paper that I use.  The concept is the same as when you write a check – super easy.  I bet kids would love playing around with this too!

Most recycling projects don’t turn out looking very swank.  This one was quite exciting because this:

Turned into this:

"Paper Garland"

Much nicer than using a milk carton as a pencil holder, although hey that’s cool too!
