Helen, this one is for you! I was reading my friend’s blog about her stay in Ukraine and one of her photographs inspired me. She described what she saw, “So, unfortunately I couldn’t quite capture it, but there were all these birches on the property where we were staying. When we arrived at night, from a distance in the dark, the bright yellow leaves appeared to be floating unattached.”
Since I’ve been on another gelatin print kick I created about two dozen monoprints using her snapshot. First I printed her photograph from my computer then used my exacto knife to cut out the tree and then used this as a stencil. Finally when I was finished with it all I mod podged the stencil that I had cut to another interesting piece of paper. I’m thinking I might glue this one onto the cover of my journal but I’m not quite sure.
